Watch The Teaser!

Ashley and Kyle reached out to us about their wedding at 320 Guest Ranch, and from the first conversation we knew this one was going to be special. It was a multi day wedding, and we were there for all of it, both photo and video, which gave us so much more to work with than just one afternoon. The ranch itself is such a stunning backdrop for a Big Sky wedding, elegant and polished but still laid back enough that everyone could actually relax and enjoy themselves.

The day before the wedding, they threw an adult summer camp for their guests in the morning adorned with the cutest custom Camp Sampson sign, team bride versus team groom, with relay races, tug of war, and volleyball all afternoon. It set the tone for the entire weekend. Everyone showed up already knowing each other a little better and ready to celebrate, which is exactly the kind of energy you want walking into a wedding day.

We also brought film cameras along for this one, shooting portions of the weekend on 35mm photo film and Super 8mm video film alongside our normal digital setup. There’s something about film that just feels different, the grain, the color, the way it slows you down a little when you’re shooting it. A few of our favorite frames from the weekend came off the film camera, and we wanted to share some of those here.

Wildfire smoke had rolled in that week, so we weren’t totally sure what the light was going to look like on the actual day, but it ended up beautiful anyway. The best part of the ceremony, though, was Ashley and Kyle’s vows. They had already read them privately to each other during their first look, loved it so much, and decided they wanted to say them again in front of everyone during the ceremony. That night they brought in a live band that traveled all the way from Idaho just to play for them, and the dance floor never slowed down. It ended in an encore, more drinks, and everyone still out there dancing.

Weddings like this are exactly why we love what we do, documenting both the big, obvious moments and the small decisions, like repeating their vows just because they wanted to, that end up meaning the most. As a destination wedding photographer and videographer working multi day weddings all over Montana and beyond, this one is going to stick with us for a long time.
